CCI flays Govt for unwarranted power cuts

JAMMU, June 2: Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) flayed the Government and Power Development Department (PDD) for unwarranted power cuts.
In a meeting attended by all the office bearers, CCI expressed anguish over the silence of Chief Minister, PDD Minister and elected representatives of Jammu on this major problem of unwarranted power cuts, being faced by all the sections of the society including students, industries, etc.
In the statement issued to the press by the President, CCI, YV Sharma expressed resentment over the inaction of the authorities. Sharma said that CCI has send a communication to Chief Minister informing about the new office bearers and apprising of the great consternation, disappointment and frustration of the people over the erratic power supply extending the cuts upto even more than 20 hours in certain locations despite being metered.
He said that, Ali Mohd Sagar in an interactive session with CCI assured that the power cuts would be limited to three hours in metered areas and upto 8 hours in the un-metered areas, however the assurance has proved false and fake.
Sharma pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, students preparing for their entrance examinations and the business centers, Industrial estates, Warehouse, Transport Nagar, Raghunath Bazar, Narwal Mandi and other important residential colonies are facing intolerable hardships due to undeclared and unscheduled power cuts.
Sharma appealed to the Government to look into the matter, set the power distribution system and not to annoy the people beyond the limit of their patience.
