CBI books Dental Council of India Chief

NEW DELHI: CBI has registered a case against President of Dental Council of India (DCI) Dibyendu Mazumdar and three others for alleged cheating and corruption for favouring a dental college in increasing seats.

The FIR was filed under provisions of criminal conspiracy, cheating and Prevention of Corruption Act against Mazumdar, DCI former officiating Secretary S K Ojha, Chairman Vananchal Dental College and Hospital, Garhwa, Jharkhand and Nilambar Pitambar University, Palamu, Vice Chancellor Firoz Ahmad.

After registering the FIR, the agency carried out searches at number of locations yesterday including the residence of Mazumdar and premises of other accused, CBI sources said here today.

DCI is entrusted to regulate courses in Dental surgery across the country and also carry out inspections to monitor infrastructure available with Dental Colleges. (AGENCIES)
