Casual labourers stage protest, seek regularization

Srinagar, Oct 25: Scores of casual labourers today staged a protest and sought regularization of services.
The casual labourers assembled at press enclave in Lal Chowk and resorted to massive sloganeering against the Government. They were also raising slogans in favour of their regularization demand. The casual labourers were from many Government departments and were protesting under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions.

Pertinently, the State Cabinet which met two days ago under the chairpersonship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti accepted the report of the high level committee headed by the Chief Secretary laying out a roadmap for absorption/regularization of Casual/Seasonal Labourers/ Daily Rated Workers so as to ensure sustainable livelihood to thousands of persons and engagements which were made from time to time.
The Cabinet also asked the Finance Department to workout concrete measures to operationalize the roadmap to meet the long-standing demand of such engaged persons.
