Cardamom futures gain 1.12% on firm spot demand

NEW DELHI, Oct 20: Cardamom prices moved up by 1.12 per cent to Rs 840 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions driven by strong demand in the spot market.

Besides, tight stocks position in the physical market on restricted arrivals from producing region, supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December rose Rs 9.30, or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 840 per kg in a business turnover of 58 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in November moved up by Rs 7.10, or 0.86 per cent, to Rs 830.90 per kg in 224 lots.

Analysts said besides strong demand in the spot market, restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade. (PTI)
