RAJOURI, Oct 20: The people of Peeri and Darhal today took out a massive car rally to celebrate the sanction of Tehsil status for Peeri by the Omar led State Government.
The rally was taken from Rajouri to Perri, where a public meeting was organized by the people of the area to express gratitude to their leaders who put all their efforts to get sanctioned Tehsil status for Peeri.
Giving credit to Choudhary Liaqat Ali for getting sanctioned the tehsil status for Peeri, the local populace gave him a warm welcome at Peeri and expressed their gratitude to him, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Mian Altaf Ahmed. The people were seen dancing on the beats of drums.
Later, addressing a public meeting at Peeri, Choudhary Liaqat Ali said it was his heart felt wish to get sanctioned tehsil and block status for Peeri, which was also the long pending demand of the local populace and we are thankful to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who fulfilled our demand.
He said it is a big achievement for us, as the discrimination with which the Peeri was being met with for last 60 years would be ended gradually. “Now, people wouldn’t have to go Kotranka for their revenue related works. Moreover, employment will also increase with the sanctioning of block in Peeri”, he added.
NC leader Haji Salamdin, Sarpanch, Ayoub Khan, Sarpanch Tafail, Sarpanch Neeraj, Sarpanch Manzoor and many others were also present on the occasion.
