RAMBAN, July 30: A Junior Engineer (JE) of NHPC posted at Chanderkote was killed, when the car he was driving plunged into a gorge near Digdol on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, here today.
As per reports, JE Sayed Javed Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmed of Khankah Mohalla, Srinagar, was driving his Santro car bearing registration number JK01S-8473 from Srinagar to Jammu, when he lost control over the vehicle near Digdol, resulting the vehicle plunging into the gorge.
On getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. The JE was shifted to district hospital, where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
The body has been kept in the mortuary of the District Hospital for postmortem and the family has been informed.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
