Car lifters gang busted, 5 nabbed

Srinagar, Mar 6: Police today claimed to have busted a car lifters’ gang and arrested five persons in Sopore and recovered three cars, four motorcycles from them.
A police spokesman said a number of complaints of vehicular theft were reported in the area, which prompted police to launch investigation.
The spokesman said two persons identified as Khawaja Waheed Ahmad Mir son of Mushtaq Ahmad Mir and Farhat Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir of Ladoora, Rafiabad, were arrested when they were travelling in a Maruti car bearing registration number JK01A/4159.
On search of the vehicle, two tape recorders, two tyres of a Santro car, ruler (scale) and a cutter were recovered.
During investigation it was found that they were involved in many other theft cases and names of three of their associates Bilal Ahmad Ganei son of Mohammad Munawar, Bilal Ahmad Ganei son of Abdul Khaliq and Hilal Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir residents of Ladoora Rafiabad surfaced.
He said two Santro Cars, 1 Wagn-R car, 4 Motorcycles, 8 Tape Recorders, 2 Car Speakers, 2  Bass Tubes, 2 Car Tyres, 6 ECM Plates, 4 Gas Cylinders, 1 Battery Exide, 3 Jack and 2 Side Mirrors of Motorcycle were recovered on their disclosure.
He said further investigation is going on in the case.
