Capt killed in mishap

JAMMU, May 24: An Army Captain was killed while his junior colleague received critical injuries when their private car collided with an electric pole and turned turtle in Lale-da-Bagh area of city outskirts.
“The mishap occurred this morning when both the officers of 21 Jat Battalion based at Lale-da-Bagh were on the way from Jammu to their unit in a Creta car bearing registration number UK04Z-8999”, a police official said, adding the collision of the car with the pole was so strong that Captain Rikshit, who was driving the vehicle, died on the spot while Lt Ranvijay, who was accompanying Captain Rikshit, sustained critical injuries.
According to the police official, the body of the deceased Captain was handed over to the Army after completion of all medico-legal formalities while the injured officer was first shifted to Military Hospital (MH) Satwari and later to MH Udhampur for specialized treatment.
“In this connection, a case FIR No 172/2018 under Section 279, 337 and 304A was registered at police station Domana and further investigations were underway”, he added.
