JAMMU, Feb 5: After performing brilliantly in the National Canoe Slalom Championship held at Meneshwar, Indore in Madhya Pradesh recently, ace canoeists Villayat Hussain and Muneer Malik have been selected for the ongoing India Camp at Indore.
They won silver and bronze medals in the National Championship respectively.
The Camp is being sponsored by Sports Authority of India and organized by Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association to pick the team for representing the Country at the Asian Canoe Slalom Championship to be held in Thailand from February 19, 2017.
Villayat and Muneer are the trainees of Bilquis Mir, who has the distinction of being the Indian National coach for last 11 years. She is also the part of ongoing India Camp.
While talking to EXCELSIOR, Bilquis said that it was the sheer-dint of hard-work by Villayat and Muneer, which helped them to perform brilliantly in the National Championship, adding that she is hopeful of their good show in the Camp to be selected for Indian team.
“I have been watching them and exploring their talent from the grass-root level,” Bilquis added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Bilquis has the honour of producing International stuff in the field of Kayaking and Canoeing.
