Candle light protest by Cong at Satwari Chowk

JAMMU, Apr 14: Pradesh Congress today held candle light protest at Satwari Chowk against the atrocities being committed on women during Modi regime in the country.
A large number of Congress activists led by State PCC president, Ghulam Ahmed Mir  assembled at Gandhi Chowk, Satwari tonight and organized `candle light vigil’, as a part of nation wide call of All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi from India Gate Delhi about the  concern over the incidents of crime and atrocities on women  and ensure the security and safety of women in the country.
PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that protest was symbolic as a part of nation wide agitation by the Congress Party. He referred to the incidents of rape and murder of minor girl at  Rassana village in Kathua  and rape case in Utter Pradesh where a BJP leader is allegedly involved.
Prominent among those who joined the candle light protest included- Sham Lal Sharma, senior vice president; CLP leader Rigzin Jora, vice president Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, Mohd Sharief Niaz, Vikram Malhotra, Namrata Sharma, Manjit Singh, S S Channi, Manmohan Singh, Shabir Khan, Indu Pawar, Shiv Dev Singh and others.
