Cancer patients can contact DHs, SDHs, PHCs for treatment: SKIMS

Srinagar, July 23: All the cancer patients who are unable to reach Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura for Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy due to prevailing unrest are requested to contact their District Hospitals, Sub-district Hospitals and Primary Healthcare Centres for oral anticancer drugs, said Institute’s spokesperson here.
“The SKIMS authorities have taken up the matter with Director Health Services  who would coordinate the availability of the drugs like Tamoxifen, Letrozole, Imatinib, Bicalutamide, Geftinib and Temozolamide from SKIMS Soura at these centers under their administration,” said the spokesperson.
Director Health Services Kashmir has also been requested to coordinate with regard to transport facilities for such patients who need in-hospital Cancer Care at SKIMS Srinagar, said the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Director SKIMS, Dr A G Ahangar, in his appeal sought smooth movement of ambulances and other staff vehicles of SKIMS: “As there has been an unprecedented increase in the number of patients  especially critically sick and trauma related due to prevailing adverse conditions unrestricted movement of ambulances and other vehicles carrying hospital staff is needed”, he added.
