Cadre review

43 years have passed by when there was cadre review of State Forest  Services officers in Forest Department. Obviously, those whose promotion has been blocked would protest in one way or the other. In 1972 when the last cadre review was made there was only one department while today there are 12 separate departments in the Forest Department.  At present there are 106 IFS officers in the State out of which 50 percent induction and 50 percent is direct quota. However, there are only 13 officers in the induction quota while 40 are vacant. Why should these be left vacant and not filled when qualified officers are there in the Forest Department? What is the reply of the authorities to the accusation that the promotion of officers in the hierarchy of cadres is deliberately ignored? Why the Range Officers are not promoted as Conservator of Forests and Conservator of Forests are not promoted as Deputy Conservator of Forests and Deputy Conservator of Forests are not promoted as Senior grade Deputy Conservator of Forests?
As a controversy has erupted we would suggest that the Governor may ask for a status report on cadre review of the Forest Department and accordingly order filling of vacant positions by promotions or direct recruitment whatever is admissible under rules.
