Cabinet to take decision on Shahpur Kandi barrage: Sham

SRINAGAR, June 28: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Choudhary today said that work on Shahpur Kandi Barrage was stopped by the State Government during 2014 adding that since then there have been a series of meetings, between both the States, to break this deadlock.
The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention of Mr Rajiv Jasrotia regarding the construction of balance portion of Shahpur Kandi Project.
The Minister said that a number of issues are being discussed in these meetings – which principally relate to the agreement of 1979, signed between J&K and Punjab Government, and other matters which accrued during the execution of Thein Dam Project (Ranjeet Sagar Dam) or post execution of this project are being sorted out.
