Cabinet OKs continuation of National Ayush Mission till March 31, 2020

NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday  approved continuation of Centrally-sponsored scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM) till March  31, 2020 with an outlay of Rs. 2,400 crore over a three-year period.

Briefing mediapersons on the Cabinet decision after the meeting, Law and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the NAM is addressing the gaps in health services through supporting the efforts of state/UT Governments for providing AYUSH health services/education in the country, particularly in vulnerable and far-flung areas.

Since its launch in September 2014, the Mission is being implemented by Ministry of AYUSH with the aim of providing cost-effective AYUSH services, with a universal access involving upgradation of  AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries, co-location of AYUSH facilities at primary health centers (PHCs), community health centres (CHCs) and district hospitals (DHs).  (AGENCIES)
