Bukhari reviews implementation of World Bank funded JTFRP

JAMMU, Jan 13: Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari today chaired a high level meeting to review implementation of the World Bank funded Jhelum-Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP).
This was the first meeting of the newly created Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR).
Financial Commissioner (DMRRR), B B Vyas, Commissioner Secretary PWD (R&B), Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Special Secretary DMRRR, Mohammed Akbar Ganai, Director Finance, Shagufta Qazi, Director Disaster Management, Aamir Ali, Director Technical, Bashir Ahmed Shah, Chief Town Planner, Iftikhar Hakeem and other officers from DMRRR attended the meeting.
Underscoring the importance of geo-tagging of the assets taken up under the project, Bukhari said it will check leakages besides providing effective mapping of the terrain for future developmental works. “Developing geographic information system for capturing, storing and checking data will further develop systematic procedures through technological interventions”, he added.
The meeting was informed that River Morphology study of River Jhelum and Tawi has been initiated. The Minister directed the concerned to expedite preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for creation of state of the art infrastructure and timely completion of works under the project.
In JTFRP, the R&B Department, Industries and Commerce Department and Municipal Corporation are the designated Project Implementation Units (PIUs) for undertaking various reconstruction works.
Bukhari also reviewed the functioning of DMRRR and conveyed instructions to all Deputy Commissioners to remain in a state of preparedness in view of the forecast of snowfall from January15 so that there is minimum disruption of essential services.
