Budget will widen gap between poor and rich: Mayawati

LUCKNOW, Feb 1:
Terming the budget, presented by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday as anti-poor, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said the budget will widen the rich-poor gap.
In a statement released here on Thursday, Ms Mayawati said the Modi Government’s fifth and last full Budget was bunch of ‘jumla,’ (jibes) very similar to last four budgets.
Describing the budget as anti-poor and pro-rich, Ms Mayawati said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should explain on the basis of facts and arguments that why he ditched the country after promising better days.
Mere attractive speech and jibes cannot benefit the poor and the labour class, she added.
The BSP chief said that the present budget cannot protect the interests of common people. Rural India needs employment as per their capabilities to live life with dignity.
The claims of development made by Modi Government for welfare of poor, farmers, youth and women don’t reflect in the budget, she pointed out.   (UNI)
