JAMMU, Jan 5: Legislative Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta has once again revised calendar for the budget session deferring by another day the presentation of general budget for 2017-18 in the Assembly by Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu.
Gupta told the Excelsior that in view of debate on adjournment motion on January 3, the presentation of general budget in the Assembly has been extended from January 10 to January 11. In the original calendar, the budget was scheduled to be presented on January 9 but was delayed by a day to January 10 as January 4 was declared a holiday.
As per the revised calendar, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti will reply to debate on opposition’s adjournment motion on Kashmir unrest at 11 am on January 9. After the Chief Minister’s reply, the Assembly will take up debate on the Governor’s Address the same day in two sittings.
The debate on Governor’s Address will continue on January 10. In the second sitting on January 10, Mehbooba will reply to debate on the Governor’s Address. Drabu will present budget in the Assembly on January 11.
Accordingly, the budget session has also been extended by a day from January 6 to 7.
