JAMMU, Feb 24: The BSF today returned body of a woman to Pakistani Rangers after she was killed in firing last night inside the Indian territory in Pargwal sector of Akhnoor tehsil while another Pakistani intruder was captured along the International Border in Kathua sector.
Official sources said a Company Commander level contact was held between BSF and Rangers at 5.50 pm today in Pargwal sector in which the BSF handed over the dead body of Rashid Begum to the Rangers, who was killed last night by the BSF when she entered into the Indian territory.
The BSF had established contact with the Rangers today after the killing of woman. The Rangers had agreed to take the body.
The BSF also arrested a Pakistani intruder soon after he entered inside the Indian territory along the International Border in Kathua sector.
The BSF and Rangers held Commandant-Wing Comman-der level flag meeting at Kathua sector on the International Border on the request of Indian side.
The BSF delegation was led by Commandant Bhupinder Singh and comprised five officers while the Rangers were led by Lt Col Asmat Ullah Khan, Wing Commander and three other officers.
The BSF took up the issues like border firing on the BSF from Pakistan side, hunting by Pakistani people in close vicinity of the border and Rangers not responding to BSF requests for holding Company Commander level border contacts.
“The Pakistani Rangers assured that they want to maintain good relations with BSF and such meetings should be arranged more frequently in border areas to avoid misunderstanding and smooth working on the border,” sources said.
They added that the meeting was held in cordial atmosphere and ended with exchange of sweets from both the sides with assurance to maintain peace and tranquility on the International Border.
A day before, BSF and Rangers had held flag meeting at Octroi post in RS Pura sector.
