JAMMU, Dec 27: A BSF Constable died today in a mishap occurred today at a workshop in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, the deceased was identified as Constable Hukma Ram of 33 Battalion BSF. He said that a hollow chemical drum was being welded by a welder at Kamal Maruti work shop near Sungal Morh, Akhnoor and it suddenly exploded with a big bang due to formation of gases inside the drum.
“As the jawan was standing near the drum, he sustained serious injuries in the mishap. He was immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, where he succumbed to his injuries”, the police official said, adding, body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital and postmortem on the body will be conducted tomorrow.
The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
