BSF bids adieu to officer killed in grenade explosion

JAMMU: A wreath laying ceremony was organised at Border Security Force (BSF) Jammu Frontier HQ, Paloura here on Tuesday and rich tributes were paid to the brave heart late Assistant Commandant Jabar Singh.

In the solemn ceremony, Ram Awtar, IG BSF Jammu, B S Tutti, DIG Jammu Range J&K Police, SSP Jammu, JKP and CRPF officers along with all BSF officers paid homage to the late officer.

Late Jabar Singh lost his life in an accidental blast on Monday when one grenade went off during training at Samba border.

Two inspectors and two sub inspectors were also injured in the incident. All the injured were provided immediate first aid and evacuated to the nearest hospital, but unfortunately Jabar Singh succumbed to his injuries.

IG BSF said that the brave officer had been instrumental in befitting reply to counterpart in May 2018 cross border fire in Samba sector.  The mortal remains will be sent to his native village for the last rites, where he would be laid to the rest with the full force honour.

Cremation of the officer will be done at his native village – Bhairmou, PO – Nakur in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. In this hour of grief, the BSF stands in solidarity with the bereaved families of the brave heart and remains committed to their dignity and well being. (AGENCIES)
