Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 93 cattle rescued, 5 arrested

JAMMU, Sept 17: Chander-kote, Ramban, Ghagwal and Pouni police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 93 cattle and arresting five persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, team from Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Inspector Abid Bukhari and Police Station Ramban led by SHO Inspector Vijay Kotwal under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma laid nakas at different locations on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and rescued 79 bovines from the clutches of four persons, who were smuggling the cattle in four Srinagar bound vehicles.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Altaf, son of Mohammad Shafi of Shangus, Anantnag, Mukhtiyar Ahmed, son of Abdul Jaleel of Gosai Woder Achabal, Shamas-ud-Din, son of Ghulam Rasool of Bahu fort Jammu and Mohammad Khushal, son of Chandi of Parnote.
Meanwhile, a team from Ghagwal Police Station led by SHO SI Bansi Lal under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Samba Deepak Digra and SSP Samba Dr Koshal Sharma laid a naka near Jatwal and intercepted a truck.
During checking, police rescued 12 cattle from the vehicle and seized it, while the accused driver managed to escape from the spot.
In another similar incident, a team from Police Station Pouni headed by HC Tariq Hussain arrested one person and rescued 2 cattle from his possession, which he was smuggling towards Rajouri from Pouni.
The arrested person has been identified as Talib Hussain, son of Noor Din of Beri Galla Tehsil Thakrakote District Reasi.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Chanderkote, Ramban, Ghagwal and Pouni Police Stations and investigation started.
