Bovines smuggling bid foiled; 26 cattle rescued, 1 arrested

UDHAMPUR, Aug 12: Police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 26 cattle and arrested one person.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Udhampur Police Station led by SHO Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary and comprising of SI Bhupesh Kumar, HC Mushtaq, Constable Yudhveer Singh and SPO Pritam under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Udhampur Kulbir Handa and SSP Udhampur Mohammad Rayees Bhat laid a naka at Tharad area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a person carrying flock of bovine animals.
During questioning, the person failed to give satisfactory reply and police arrested him by rescuing 26 cattle from his possession.
The arrested person has been identified as Mohammed Akther, son of Mohammad Shafi, a resident of Chapper, Tehsil Dansal, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 409/18 under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
