Bovine smuggler attempts to hit police team with truck, arrested

SAMBA, Apr 17: A bovine smuggler tried to hit a police team with his vehicle at Jatwal, falling under the jurisdiction of Ghagwal police station. However, the accused driver was arrested by the police.
A police spokesman said that, police party from Ghagwal police station led by Inspector Bharat Sharma under the supervision of Anil Magotra, SSP Samba laid a naka at Jatwal and signaled a truck bearing number JK02H-0645 to stop.
On seeing the police party, the truck driver tried to hit the police party as well as the barriers installed to stop the vehicle for routine checking.
After committing deliberate attempt to attack the police party with the vehicle, the accused managed to escape leaving the vehicle on spot.
However, acting swiftly police nabbed the accused, who has been identified as Mohammad Tariq, son of Abdul Karim of Gool, district Ramban.
On search of the vehicle, 10 bovine animals were rescued by the police.
A case under FIR number 21/14 under Section 188 and 279 RPC, 2/3 Cruelty towards Animal Act has been registered at police station Ghagwal and investigation started.
