SAMBA, Jan 7: Border residents of Jammu and Kashmir are under the grip of panic and fear as the present State Government has failed to find any solution to their problems. This was stated by former Minister and senior vice president National Conference (NC), Surjit Singh Slathia during a public meeting at border village Trindian (Ramgarh) in district Samba today.
During the meeting various issues and problems faced by the common masses were projected and it was expected that they will be redressed by State as well as the Central Government. The major issues which were projected were drinking water problem, power cuts, delay in distribution of  ration, oldage/widow/handicapped pensions, rising unemployment, damages of road from Ramgarh to Trindian, lanes/drains of the  village, etc. Addressing the gathering, Slathia attacked the present coalition in the State of ignoring the common masses at every front and no basic amenities reached at their door steps which were already committed by the State Government in their agenda of alliance.
Addresses to media, Slathia said that the present coalition also failed to provide the security to border residents during firing on border from across as no compensation and no safety bunkers were provided in border area though the announcement was made by the Central Government in this regard. Slathia said that people residing adjoining border areas are crying but the Government is unmoved.
Slathia also criticised the Government for its decision on election of Sarpanches through Panches and reiterated that his party is in favour of electing  Sarpanches directly instead of through panches.
