SRINAGAR, Nov 3: Police today said it have arrested three bootleggers and recovered illicit liquor from their possession in Srinagar and Bandipora districts of Valley.
A police spokesman said that two bootleggers identified as Ram Avaid and Rajesh Chowhan, both residents of Uttar Pradesh and currently residing at Saderbal area of Srinagar, were arrested during checking by cops at Nigeen here. Illicit liquor was recovered from their possession, he said, adding that a case under FIR number147/2017 under Section 48 Excise Act was registered.
Meanwhile, police laid a checkpoint at Gund Dachna in Aragam area of Bandipora district. During checking, 13 bottles of illicit liquor were seized from the possession of Mehraj Din Bhat who was travelling in a bus, the spokesman said, adding that a case under FIR number 31/2017 under Section 48 Excise Act was registered and investigation taken up.
