REASI, Aug 7: Police today arrested a bootlegger, who was illegally selling liquor at his Dhaba at Godhar Khalsa in Pouni while a drug peddler was arrested in Katra for possessing Charas.
A specific information was received at Police Post Bhambla that one person namely Narinder Singh alias Pappu of Godhar Khalsa, Tehsil Pouni, who is running Dhaba at Godhar Khalsa, was also indulged in sale of liquor illegally in the said Dhaba.
Acting on this information, a Police party led by SI Ranjeet Singh, I/C PP Bhambla rushed to the spot and conducted raid in the Dhaba and succeeded in recovery of 144 Poly pouches measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K excise liquor,
66 quarters of Regal Talons Whisky, measuring 180/180 ml each and 24 quarters of MC Whisky, measuring 180/180 ml each, were recovered from the possession of accused person.
Police arrested the accused person and seized the recovered liquor. On this, case FIR No. 44/2017 U/S 48-(a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Pouni and investigation of the case is in progress.
Meanwhile, Katra Police arrested a drug peddler and seized 140 grams Charas from his possession.
The accused was intercepted by a police party from Police Station Katra, which was on patrolling duty near Chintamani Katra. During his personal search, the police team recovered 140 grams of Charas.
The accused was identified as Saddam Hussain of Karam Katha, tehsil Thuroo, district Reasi. Police arrested the accused and seized the recovered Charas.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 139/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra.
