Body of Indian engineer killed in US shootout to arrive India under cover of privacy

NEW DELHI, Feb 26:
Mortal remains of Indian Engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who wad killed in a shootout at a bar in Kansas in America in apparent case of hate crime against foreign nationals, is likely to arrive today in India under thick cover of privacy.
Family of the slain Engineer has requested the government not make public the details about the arrival of mortals remains, including the flight time and place where it is to land. They do not want it become a media event, sources in the MEA said.
Asked where and when the body is being brought, the sources said, “We know about it. But family has requested strict privacy.”
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has been keeping a close contact with the family of deceased here in Hyderabad as well as his wife Sunayana Dumala, who held a news conference at Garmin Headquarters in Olathe, Kansas City and posed tough questions for the US government over the measures it will take to safeguard the minorities.
“Our mission staff have met with Sunayna Kuchibhotla. Indian Government is with her in this hour of grief. We assure her of all our support,” Ms Swaraj said in a tweet, confirming that she has received a report from Houston based Consular General of India Anupam Ray.
On Wednesday, 32-year-old Indian engineer and his friend Alok Madasani were shot by an intoxicated Navy veteran, Adam Purinton. While Kuchibhotla succumbed to his wounds, Madasani has been released from the hospital after treatment. According to reports, the shooter allegedly yelled  “get out of my country” before he began shooting.
“He did not deserve a death like this. In two weeks, he would have celebrated his 33rd birthday….March 9th is his birthday,” said the wife of deceased.
She broke down time and again while narrating what her husband’s dreams were and how passionate person he was.
“My husband came to United States with lots of dreams in his mind. He came here in 2005 August to pursue Masters from University of Texas, El Paso. He got a job in Rockwell Collins, Iowa, he worked there for six years, before moving to Garmin. We made Kansas our home, we made Olathe our home. We got our dream house, our first house together,” she said.
Sunayana raised during her emotive press conference, asking the US authorities proper answers over the security of outsiders, who made America their second home.
“I need an answer from the government. I need an answer for everyone out there that what is there they’re gonna do to stop this hate crime. Not just for my husband, who lost his battle in this, but for everyone, all those people, of any race, either Asian, African, American, any race that have lost their loved ones to something like this,” she said.  “I was told that that guy very proudly went to another bar and told that he shot two Muslim guys. How did he decide that by the colour of a person? Does the colour of the person state that he is a Muslim, a Hindu or a Christian? No. So how did that guy decide that?” she said.
Echoing her sentiments, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu today condemned the killing of the Indian, saying the US Government should take the “strongest action” against the perpetrators of the crime.
“USA should respond to this incident. American President and people of America, they should come out openly to condemn such actions and then take strongest action. Also send a message that it is not acceptable,” Mr Naidu said talking to reporters in Hyderabad. (UNI)
