JAMMU, Jan 30: The dead body of a drowned Army Jawan was found today from River Chenab in Pargwal area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Kanachak.
“The Army Jawan, Mandeep Singh of 118 Engineer Regiment, had drowned in River Chenab at Doomi (Malpur) during a swimming competition on January 8”, a police official said, adding, despite continuous search, the body of the Jawan could not be located then.
He said today after more than 20 days of the incident, the body of the deceased was found from the bank of River Chenab in Pargwal area and was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor for post mortem. “In this connection, Kanachak police has initiated inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC”, he added.
