JAMMU, Oct 1: To mark the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, a blood donation camp was inaugurated by Director Health Services Dr. B.S Pathania at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar.
Mr. Pathania said that to promote Voluntary Blood Donation and to recognize the services of blood donors, donors motivators, camp organizers and all those who help in providing blood to the needy patients, 1st October is celebrated as National Voluntary Blood Donation Day every year all over the country.
He said that Blood Transfusion Services form the priority component of Modern health care system. Blood and its components are required for the management of trauma patients, critically ill patients and those suffering from various forms of diseases. He said that it was observed that women participation in blood donation is very less and stressed for their massive participation in this noble cause.
On the occasion, various other speakers also spoke in length about the blood donation. Momentoes were given to the participants by the chief guest.
Among others, Deputy Director Head Quarter Dr. Gurjeet Singh, Medical Superintendent Gandhi Nagar Hospital Dr. Younis Choudhary, Consultant Child Specialist Dr. Mahesh Gupta, RMO Dr. Sunita Puri, Pathologist Dr. Rajat Gupta, President Medical Employees Union Markes Gill, besides Pharmacist, Voluntary Blood donors, Donor motivators and students were also present on the occasion.
