BJP workers celebrate sharing power for first time in J&K

SRINAGAR :  The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers today celebrated sharing the power in a coalition government for the first time since 1947 in Jammu and Kashmir by hoisting party flags in the area outside the civil secretariat, where Darbar Move offices reopened today.
However, majority BJP flags were later removed by unknown persons.    Large number of BJP workers, holding party flags in their hands, greeted BJP ministers at main gate of civil secretariat today.
BJP flags were hoisted on flyover and other places near the civll secretariat during the night to celebrate being part of the government.     However, there were no flags of other political parties, including Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which is in alliance with the BJP in the state.
The BJP which remained in the opposition since it started taking part in the elections in the state, joined the coalition with the PDP after securing 25 seats, all in Jammu region. The party, however, draw blank in the Valley and the Ladakh region.
Majority of BJP candidates who contested the general Assembly elections in 2014 even lost their security deposits in the valley. (AGENCIES)
