JAMMU, Apr 15: To mark the birth centenary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya, former president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh the State unit of BJP organised a free medical and health checkup camp here today. Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay got himself examined as first patient and also extended his blessings to the organisers, doctors and patients for the success of camp.
The camp was held under the supervision of BJP vice president Yudhvir Sethi and specialist doctors examined hundreds of patients and even provided free medicines to them. Dr Deepak Kapila Cardiologist, Dr Mohit Arora Orthopedic Surgeon & Dr Gurpreet Singh of Medicine besides Amit Bagotra and Rajeev Verma helped in the successful conduct of this camp that attracted hundreds of patients.
The camp as part of health checkup programme spread across the State housed acclaimed and specialist doctors who rendered their medical advise to patients in cardiac, neurology and orthopaedic OPDs besides conducted tests related to BP, Sugar, BMD & ECG on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi said that in order to pay tributes to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya the Central Government had also announced Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojana to provide continuous power supply to rural India. This Medical Camp in Jammu was also in series of those philanthropic works that party intends to hold in days to come.
He added that after success of this camp, BJP will be holding free medical camps in Srinagar as well as Ladakh. Sethi also disclosed that party intends to reach out to commoners through medical camps being organised even at district levels.
