BJP MLC stages walk-out on B’deshis issue

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 24: The ‘coalition partner’  BJP member,  Vibodh Gupta today staged walk out from  the Upper House on the issue of  rejection of  his two  resolutions by the Legislative Council  secretariat with regard to  illegal settlement of over 11,000 Bangladeshis and Myanmar nationals in Jammu and demand for setting up of Minority Commission in the State.
Gupta raised the issues after the Question Hour was just over and Chairman of the Council Anayat Ali proceeded for the next business. The BJP  member  stood up and lodged his strong protest with the Chairman on the issue that why his resolution regarding deportation of over 11,000 Bangladeshis and Myanmar nationals from Jammu was rejected by him and moreover, his second resolution with regard to the demand of  setting up of Minority  Commission  in the State was set aside on what grounds  and reason should be stated properly to his satisfaction.
The BJP member lodged his strong protest with the Chairman and said that the reason being given by the Council Secretariat was highly unjustified and unfair. He said State can not shirk its responsibility by merely saying that illegal settlement of Bangladeshis and Myanmar nationals was a Central subject.
He said there is Article 370 in the State and here  is our own law. It does not permit any outsider to settle here in the State.  Centre has nothing  to do with it . “What is the problem to the Government to discuss the issue here and take a decision on deportation of these illegal settlers ?”, he asked.
Gupta pointed out that these people are threat to security and peace of this region, moreover they have different cultural identity. The State is already facing terrorism and such people can be exploited  easily to indulge in subversive activities.  It is unfortunate that this Government and even the House is taking it so lightly.
He said if Minority Commission issue is sub-judice what is problem  to discuss it here  and seek  opinion. Gupta said if the Legislators will not be allowed to discuss such issues on the floor of the House which is the platform for them to raise such issues.  As the Chairman Anayat Ali did not give much attention to his repeated pleas,  the BJP Legislator staged walk out from the House.
