BJP MLAs allege discrimination with Jammu in IAY cases

JAMMU, Jan 27: Ruling BJP MLAs today raised the issue of serious discrimination with Jammu region in the Legislative Assembly in sanction of Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) cases.
Raising the issue while asking supplementary to his question, BJP MLA from Akhnoor Rajiv Sharma said 12434 IAY cases were sanction in Kashmir as against just 2576 in Jammu and 687 in Ladakh during 2014-15. In 2015-16, he said, 12508 cases were sanction in Kashmir and only 5607 in Jammu and 787 in Ladakh.
“Whether all houses in Jammu have become concrete. Are whether there is no poverty in Jammu”? Rajiv Sharma asked.
BJP MLA from Doda Shakti Raj Parihar said in Doda district only 228 IAY cases have been sanctioned in 286 Panchayats.
Another party MLA, Jewan Lal from Bani said there has been very few cases approved in Jammu.
GM Saroori, Congress MLA from Inderwal said not a single IAY case has been sanctioned in his four Panchayats.
In his reply, Rural Development Minister Haq Khan said there was no question of disparity with any region and he would look into the issues raised by the MLAs.
