BJP leaders visit different areas of Kashmir

JAMMU, Oct 1: On their second day tour of Kashmir valley, BJP State president & MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria, State spokesperson Farooq Khan and MLA Baldev Raj Sharma visited Budgam, Nowgam and adjoining areas which have been affected by the rains and floods.
Similarly, State Election Campaign Committee Chairman Dr. Nirmal Singh, Senior leader Ch. Lal Singh and Ex-servicemen Cell convenor Brig. (retd) Anil Gupta visited a number of flood hit areas of South Kashmir to take the stock of problems of flood hit people.
During their visits to these areas of Valley, they held interactions with the affected families and also took stock of the problems being faced by them.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, while stressing for more effective measures to help the affected families, said that the people have expressed their anger and resentment against the State government for not doing enough in reaching the victims. He said that it is the prime responsibility of the State Government to put into service whole machinery to take up relief and rehabilitation operations. The Union Government as well as the BJP have been working round the clock to ensure that timely and adequate relief in the form of ration items, clothes, blankets, tents, medicines, drinking water etc. is provided to the needy people, he added.
Ashok Khajuria said that today even after more than three weeks of the natural calamity, maximum affected families in Kashmir are still reeling under the after effects of floods as the local administration has failed to come to their rescue and provide any relief.
Dr. Nirmal Singh said that death and destruction caused due to rains and floods have brought miseries, sufferings and turned many areas into debris and marshy lands. In such situation, there was a need of war footing operations but unfortunately nothing concrete has been done by the State Government.
Farooq Khan also held state government responsible for the plight of flood victims.
