JAMMU, Feb 10: Former minister and senior Congress leader RS Chib today alleged that BJP has totally ignored the border people and farmers of Jammu region and they have been left to suffer badly.
Addressing a meeting of Block Congress Committee Suchetgarh today, Chib targeted BJP at the Centre and also previous BJP-PDP regime in the State for the situation along the borders in J&K and said that ceasefire violations have increased during Modi regime.
He alleged that border villagers and the farmers were the worst victims of the policies of BJP Government and this party only raised hollow slogans while the welfare of these people was never taken care of. He said that no plots were provided to the border people as promised by this Government.
Chib said even the West Pakistan refugees, DPs of 1947, 65 and 71 have been ignored. The Cong had approved Rs 25 lakh package per family but BJP provided just Rs 5.30 lakh. He said the pace of disbursement of package is very slow. Hardly a little amount could be disbursed against Rs 9000 cr sanctioned by the Centre so far by the officials concerned.
He said the people of the State are fed up of the policies of BJP and want change. The recent elections in Rajasthan, MP and Chhatisgarh have set the trend. He said J&K would also witness a change this time. He asked the party workers to gear up for elections.
Chib also launched Shakti project of Congress Party connecting Congress functionaries and workers directly with AICC president Rahul Gandhi through an application on their Mobile phones.
Project coordinator and Incharge Social Media of the party, Sushil Sharma educated the Congress workers about the project in detail and said that it will held in strengthening the party at grass root level.
