BJP has betrayed legacy of Dr Shyama Prasad: Harsh

Excelsior Correspondent
RAMNAGAR, Mar 29:  While assailing the BJP for dilution of its stand over abrogation of Art 370 , NPP chairman  and former minister Harsh Dev Singh described it as an opportunist move and questioned the RSS as to whether it would still continue to give political support to the saffron party.
He said that not only its changed stance over Art 370 but the BJP partnered Govt in J&K had engaged five top lawyers of the country to defend Art 35A in the Supreme Court. He expressed dismay that BJP had so openly disowned the principles for which Dr Mukherjee stood all his life and have jettisoned his ideology throwing all their solemn election time pledges of promoting his agenda to the winds after their ascendance to power in their desperation to keep their opportunist alliance with PDP intact. He was addressing huge public gatherings in Panj-Grain and Manial villages of Ramnagar constituency.
Rebuking the BJP leaders for betraying the legacy of Dr Mukherjee,  Harsh Dev said that they have done the greatest dis-service to the legendary leader by drawing political capital out of his sacrifice and dis-regarding his slogans after their ascendance to power.  He said that the BJP leaders used the name of Dr Mukherjee and his ideology for garnering votes in the elections but once in power abandoned his ideology and principles in the most contemptuous manner. He said that BJP had not only endorsed the separate constitution of J&K but had most contemptuously discarded the demand for abrogation of Article 370 which had been its most coveted demand during the last seven decades.
He further said that BJP Ministers in J&K had been using two flags in their offices, in various official functions and on their vehicles with some of them reportedly visiting the statute site of Dr Mukherjee with two flags flying atop their vehicles. He said that with two flags still flying on Civil Secretariat building, no efforts had been made by any of the BJP Ministers or MLAs after forming Govt in the State and Centre to get the provision of separate flag removed from the State Constitution.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Manju Singh, Pawan Dev,  Sunder Rani, Bishan Dass, Dhani Ram Attri and Vishab Dev.
