BJP gears up for Panchayat elections

JAMMU, Oct 15: After the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party, (BJP) has geared up for the approaching Panchayat elections in the State starting from next month.
The party which held a meeting here, today under the chairmanship of its president Ravinder Raina asked its cadre to gear up for Panchayat elections now.
The meeting was also addressed by MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta, State general secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, former Minister, Sat Sharma and MLC Ashok Khajuria.
The meeting was attended by MLAs, MLCs, BJP district presidents, district incharges and the senior leaders from the constituencies having Panchayats in which the threadbare discussions on all the issues related to the Panchayat polls in the region were held.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the meeting, focussed that after extensive campaigning for the ULB elections in the State, the dedicated party cadre will spare no time in ensuring the victory of nationalist forces in the upcoming Panchyat polls also to defeat the desigins of the forces who are inimical to national unity and integrity. He said that the party is all set to sweep the polls and carry the same momentum into the approaching Panchayat polls in the State.
He said that although the process is energy consuming but the BJP worker is too enthusiastic for the whole set of election phases. He pointed out that it is only due to the dedicated efforts of the Central and State BJP leadership that has pressed hard for these elections to strengthen the lowest level of democracy. He once again urged all to work hard to formulate the strategy to achieve the BJP’s target of “Panchayat to Parliament”.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, in his address, stressed that although the Panchayat elections are to be contested on non-party basis, but still the party leaders have a great responsibility to choose and support the right candidate with party ideology. He asked them to seek the ground reports from all the Panchayats to form an effective strategy well before the time.
Kavinder Gupta, in his address, asked the cadre to focus their whole energy on the Panchayat elections. He said that as far as the local elections are concerned, the personal integrity of the candidates is to be taken into consideration as the most important step.
Ashok Kaul, in his address, sought the information about various preparations being carried out for the Panchayat elections. He deliberated on all the issues threadbare in the meeting and asked the senior leaders of the State for further activation of all the ground level party workers.
