DERA BABA BANDHA (REASI), Dec 10: With the PDP-BJP coalition entangled in controversies and suffering from policy paralysis, National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said the people, especially youth and rural poor have lost hope and Jammu feels completely let down.
In an interactive session with National Conference workers, after paying obeisance at the Dera Baba Bandha, Rana shared the concern of youth over growing unemployment and said the slow pace of recruitment has made the future of unemployed bleak. Added to this, he said,   the menace of backdoor appointments and nepotism has left the eligible aspirants dejected and aghast.
He referred to discrimination meted out with the Jammu candidates in various categories of posts filled by the Public Service Commission, saying that the BJP has failed to explain this to meritorious youth.
Rana, accompanied among others by the former minister and senior party leader Babu Jagjeevan Lal besides Sarf Singh Nagh and Tariq Bhat was presented Saropa on the occasion.
The Provincial President lashed out at the BJP for indulging in reactionary and hate politics that, he said, has eventually taken toll of governance. The damage done to Jammu psyche is immense and the BJP leadership will have to come clear on the compelling reasons for ignoring the interests of this region. He said the BJP has not to explain their failures but also to come up with sold explanation over public grievances. These, he said, pertained to political aspirations and developmental needs. He said the utility services have suffered a major jolt during the past three years.
“It is ironic that utility services have become in the region”, he said this is not something the people of Jammu region had never thought even in their wildest dreams. He said the BJP has bartered the interest of Jammu for loaves of power.
He said due to policy paralysis and vested interest, the  people of Jammu are finding themselves at the cross roads of history with development coming to grinding halt and administration suffering chronic inertia due to lack of direction and political will.  He said the promise of better tomorrow has transformed into a nightmare, as the BJP has reneged on every single statement and promise they made before, during and after the elections. He said attempts of polarisation are being encouraged officially to hide the failures and shortcomings of the government, which continues to remain in denial mode.
“This is not going to bail them out from the peoples’ court”, he said and advised the BJP not to test patience of people, who know well how make or mar those in public life. He said the people of Jammu will give a befitting reply to the BJP for its betrayal and indifference after rehabilitating the corridors of the power.
