BJP demands inclusion of border villages in Backward Class category

JAMMU, June 6: Prominent leaders of BJP met the Chairman of State Commission for Backward Classes, Jeet Lal Gupta to present their demand about inclusion of border residents into Backward Classes.
BJP district president, Jangbir Singh, Ex. MLA Ashwani Sharma, BJP State incharge All Cells Varinderjit Singh, Pt. Ashok Khajuria, Adv. Onkar Seth, Jaidev Singh, Shiv Lal Manyal and others were the other BJP leaders, who met the Chairman of Commission.
The deputation informed about  the problems and sufferings  of the residents of the border villages of Jammu to the Chairman. They submitted that the villages of border areas of Jammu starting from Khour, Akhnoor district, Jammu to Babiya district, Kathua are faced with numerous problems including that of repeated aggressive designs like firing and shelling of Pakistan resulting in great loss of life and property and as also the education, health of children. They said unfortunately five kilometres border belt of Jammu has not been included in the list of backward areas unlike belt along Line of Control (LoC)  although the population residing close to the border areas have suffered heavily.
They also said that the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti had earlier assured the affected persons of border area that the Government will look into the matter. The leaders further said that the border residents are continuously suffering due to the misdeeds of Pakistan as such Government and the administration must come to the rescue of the poor and innocent population who despite heavy losses are holding their ground for the love of mother Earth.
The Chairman of Commission assured the BJP leaders that he will take all the necessary steps for addressing and forwarding the case and appreciated the concerns of BJP leaders for the welfare of suffering border residents.
