IMPHAL (MANIPUR), Oct 25: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that BJP is all set to enter the election fray in the upcoming Manipur Assembly poll with full confidence and with a firm commitment to provide corruption-free governance and ensure absolute benefit of the various development schemes for States initiated by the Modi Government at the Centre.
Dr Jitendra Singh, currently on a two-day visit to the State, spent nearly five hours holding a series of meetings with different sections of BJP party leaders and workers. He held a meeting with BJP State office bearers led by BJP State President Bhabananda Singh, General Secretary (Organization) and MLA Biswajeet Singh, Vice President Premananda Sharma, Past Presidents Borbabu Singh, Shantikumar Sharma and Bhorot Singh, Vice Presidents Asnikumar Singh and A.R. Khan, other State office bearers and senior State leaders of the Party. He also held a meeting with the core group of the BJP State Unit. He also sought inputs from various Morcha leaders of State BJP including State President Mahila Morcha Sunitibala, President BJYM Somorjit Singh, President OBC Morcha Liben Singh, President Kisan Morcha Nabakumar Singh and President Minority Morcha Salam Khan. In addition, he also met a number of delegations from academicians and representatives of civil society.
Later, briefing the media about these meetings, Dr Jitendra Singh said, BJP State unit will soon come out with details of the most notorious corruption scams of the Ibobi Singh Government. These would include the infamous “Lok Tak Lake” scam, where hundreds of crores of rupees have gone unaccounted in the name of cleansing the lake,he said.
The second main plank on which the BJP will go to the people is, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the pace of development which has got adversely affected during the Congress rule of 15 years because of huge misappropriation and embezzlement of the Central funds. He said, out of these 15 years, 13 years was the Congress Party rule at the Centre as well, and hence this smacks of connivance between the Centre and the State. However, citing an example, he referred to the announcement of Manipur Sports University by Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon after the formation of the BJP-led government at the Centre, but the work could not start on the project because of deliberate delay on the part of the State Government to facilitate acquisition of land for the purpose.
Referring to incidents of violence in the last few days, Dr Jitendra Singh accused the Congress government of having developed a vested interest in continuation of unrest so that its hegemony can continue. However, he emphasized that BJP Government will restore the law of land and ensure peace and normalcy within one year for optimum development and growth of the State.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the State Mahila Morcha Unit will soon reach out to each family in the State with an appeal to vote for BJP for restoration of respect and security for the women of Manipur who always traditionally commanded a very high degree of reverence and status in the society.
