JAMMU, Jan 22: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that the Coalition Government’s tenure so far is marked by gross non-delivery, acknowledged failure to fulfill the promises made with the people of State and a betrayal of the people, particularly the poor, disadvantaged and the unemployed.
Addressing party workers during active membership card distribution programme at Bhour Camp in Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla said that this Government till now has lacked the vision to galvanize economic growth and has chosen instead to create a smokescreen making boastful claims.
“The BJP which claims to be the champion of Jammu people has betrayed the mandate of the people by taking U-turn on all vital commitments made with the people of the state, especially Jammu region during elections. This government is a total failure,” Bhalla said.
Former minister expressed concern over problems of common people multiplying with each passing day, saying it seems that the PDP-BJP Coalition is yet to take off despite over 22 months of being in office in Jammu and Kashmir. “Except for pursuing anti-people policies, the Coalition Government has bade farewell to development and governance”, Bhalla said.
He said that the utility services are almost in shambles with Coalition Govt just doing lip service. Earlier, they said that coalition would work towards creating an environment for an all-round economic development of the State and will also work for the prosperity of the people. But ever since the alliance came into existence, the entire process of governance has become a comedy of errors.
Bhalla further said that the BJP at the time of ironing out a Common Minimum Programme (CMP), compromised on various issues, probably to grab the chance to occupy the treasury benches for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. “Coalition Govt so far failed to fulfill any of the promises, be it the problems faced by the border residents, the problems faced by the farmers, the miseries of flood victims, the problems of refugees and Kashmiri Pandits, this Government has done nothing to address those problems,” he said.
DCC Jammu (U) president Anil Chopra also addressed the gathering. Prominent among others present on the occasion include Dr Ramakant Khajuria, Munish Mahajan, Kewal Krishan, Jagmohan Sharma, Kapoor Lal, Bal Krishan, Veena Sharma, Rakesh Gupta and Joginder Pal.
