BJP back to religious cards: Omar

SRINAGAR, Feb 20:

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘graveyard-shamshan’ statement during electioneering in Uttar Pradesh (UP), former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the BJP is back to religious cards.
Modi had said that “if there is a ‘kabaristaan’ (graveyard), there should be a ‘shamshaan’ (cremation ground) too in a village, “if there is electricity during Ramzan, it should be there on Diwali too”.
However, the statement of Prime Minister evoked sharp reaction from Congress and other mainstream political parties.
The working president of the main opposition in J&K, where BJP is in alliance with PDP in the Government,  Abdullah taking micro  blogging site twitter said “For all the talk of “vikas” & “parivartan” true to form we are back to the religious card. Things must be going very badly for BJP in UP”.
Reacting to another statement of Modi that SP did not respect ideals of Ram Manohar Lohia ji by allying with Congress, Abdullah said “It’s OK for BJP to betray the ideals of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee when they ally with PDP but SP must be held to a higher standard, right?”. (UNI)
