SRINAGAR: A bill regarding maintenance, welfare of parents and senior citizens was today introduced in the State Legislative Assembly.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Mir Saifullah, on behalf of the Minister for Social Welfare Minister, introduced ‘A Bill to provide for more effective provisions for the maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens as guaranteed and recognised under the Constitution and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto of 2014.
The aim and objective of the Bill is to provide safety and security to the parents and senior citizens who are ignored or dumped by their kith and kin or near and dear ones.
The State Government, for the purpose, should open Senior Citizen Homes, give financial assistance, medical aid and other facilities to the poor and needy senior citizens, the Bill aims. (AGENCIES)
