Addressing a press conference here today, state advisor of the BGP, Mohd Ayoub Gujjar said that nomadic Gujjar community has been facing Govt apathy in the State. They have been denied rights by the Government. He said the nomadic Gujjars, who really deserve the benefits of the quota have been deprived of the same. The other well off families are taking the real benefits, he remarked.
Ayoub demanded that Government must take initiative for the permanent settlement of the nomadic Gujjars-Bakerwals and provide them political reservation like SC category. He further demanded implementation of National Tribal Forest Rights Act 2006 in the J&K State, reservation in promotions and abolition of inter-district recruitment policy.
The Gujjar leader also demanded that Gojri language introduced in schools and colleges of the State and also included in the 8th Schedule. He alleged that funds provided by the Central Government under Tribal Sub Plan are being misused and diverted to other sectors and the Gujjar-Bakerwal community is deprived of the development in their localities. He alleged that Centre is sending huge funds for the nomads in J&K but even 50 % of it is not being utilized for the welfare of this community.
He urged upon the State Administration to identify the corrupt elements in the Administration and take serious action against them. He demanded that work on the ongoing development projects be expedited and hawks eye be maintained on the funds being used on these projects in the State.
