Bhandari for opening of Chenani –Nashri tunnel

KISHTWAR, Jan 30: Expressing concern over the problems being faced by the people of hilly reaches of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts due to closure of National Highway for days together after land sliding in Winter at Patnitop, Batote  and adjoining places, senior Congress leader and Member Civil Society Kishtwar  Shamsher Singh Bhandari has reiterated his demand that Chenani-Nashri tunnel be opened for vehicular traffic to ease the problems of the people of this belt.
In a statement issued here today, he also demanded compensation to Saffron growers of Kishtwar who suffered immense loss this year as production decreased to lowest ebb.
The Congress leader, besides demanding the widening of Kuleed Chowk to Malepeth road also appealed the authorities for installation of flood lights and Hasti More to Kuleed Chowk.
Bhandari while recalling the commitment made by the Medical Education and Health Minister, Bali Bhagat with the people of Kishtwar regarding establishment of nursing college in the town, demanded that the work on same should be started soon.
