Bhaderwah Campus organizes ‘Ek Din Buzargon Ke Saath’

BHADERWAH, Oct 3: The Bhaderwah Campus of the University of Jammu organized `Ehsaas : Ek Din Buzargon Ke Saath’. a unique event to propagate the message of belongingness to golden agers of the entire Bhaderwah region.
The idea was conceived by the Rector Bhaderwah Campus,  Prof  G M Bhat during his visit to the Nubra valley in Ladakh related to an international project. Consequently the golden agers of the Bhaderwah town were approached and invited for the cause to make them feel as important component of the society. About 60 senior citizens of the Bhaderwah town attended the function and they were  engaged for full day in the campus premises.
The senior citizens were welcomed  by the students and staff of the Bhaderwah Campus in a unique way and they were  taken to the venue by the beating drums and clapping by the students of little angel school. While proceeding towards the venue,  they were  also introduced to the concept of joint family system through Rangoli drawn by students of English Department.
During inaugural speech,   Prof G M Bhat urged the senior citizens to share their life time experiences and inculcate them into the entire faculty and students of the Bhaderwah Campus. He requested them  to act as professor for the full day and make student learn the basics of different aspects of life.
Students of the Little Angel, English and B.Ed presented cultural items. For the rest of the day,  a mock joint family system was created by the campus and each senior citizen was adopted by the single family consisting of the male and female students of the campus. A due care was given to all the golden agers by their respective families and their life time experiences were shared among them.
The students and staff of the Bhaderwah campus remained engaged with them throughout the day making them felt that they were still important component of the society.
During valedictory,  the golden agers were given a token of love from the Bhaderwah Campus and  requested to share their individual experiences to inspire the young generations.
The  proceedings were conducted by  Poonam Manhas and  Sana Anjum of the English Department.
