BGSBU celebrates Foundation Day

JAMMU, Dec 15: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated 15th foundation with great fervor and joy by organizing an impressive function in the University auditorium.
Prof Javid Musarrat, Vice Chancellor of the University, was chief guest on the occasion.
In his address, Prof Musarrat said that BGSBU inherits a glorious past and has a prosperous future ahead. He said that his vision is to convert BGSBU from teaching into Teaching and Research University. He further said that the University is marching ahead to foster scientific temperament and innovative thinking among students and scholars of the University. He said that in order to compete and prosperous in highly competitive environment there is need to focus on innovations and Research.
Dr Ashafq Ahmed Zarri, Registrar of the University, presented the welcome address and highlighted the role of founding fathers of the University. He said that the contribution of the founding members of the University shall always be remembered and will be written in golden in the history of BGSBU.
Prof Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academics, highlighted various initiatives of the University for developing BGSBU as a centre for excellence in teaching and research. He also highlighted various achievements of the University in last 14 years of its journey.
On the occasion, the Best Researcher award in Sciences and Engineering was presented to Dr Arif Tasleem Jaan, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany. Best Researcher of the Year award in the field of Social Sciences, Languages and Management was presented to Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, Department of Urdu.
The Vice Chancellor’s Certificate of Merit was presented to Non Teaching staff of the University, included Zakir Malik, Mohan Chowdhary, Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Sadiq Iqbal, Suresh Kumar, Shabaaz Ahmed, Ashwani Kumar, Tariq Ahmed, Rakesh Sharma, Gurpreet Singh, Hrajeet Thapa, Naseeb Mirza, Tazeem Ahmed and Sachin Ahanger.
On the occasion, a multi lingual dictionary in Urdu, Gojri and Kashmiri, compiled by Dr Rafiq Anjum, Assistant Professor, Department of Islamic Studies, was also released by the Vice Chancellor.
Dr Shams Kamal Anjum, Head Department of Arabic, proposed vote of thanks. The program was conducted by Farkhanda Ana.
In the afternoon, a colourful cultural program was presented by University Cultural and Literary Club. The Proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr Danish Iqbal.
