Beganna’s poetry released

JAMMU, Oct 24: In an impressive  and well attended function organized by Dogri Sanstha, ‘Maun Lakeeran’, a book of Dogri poems by well known Dogri poet Susheel Beganna was released  by Prof Pradeep K Sharma, vice chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology Jammu (SKUAST-J), who was the chief guest on this occasion.
Prof Sharma, himself a Hindi poet, was all appreciation for the poetry of Beganna which he said, is remarkable for its content, poetic beauty, imagery, style of expression and the musicality of the language.
Prof Lalit Magotra, the Convener of Dogri Advisory Board in Sahitya Akademi, who presided over the function dwelt in detail on the distinctive features of  Beganna’s poetry and pinpointed those aspects, which set his poetry apart from others. He also commented on the rare combination of Prof Pradeep Sharma being an outstanding scientist and an accomplished Hindi poet.
Susheel Beganna recited some of the poems from his book, which received repeated clapping from the enthusiastic audience. Prof Veena Gupta presented a very thought provoking and scholarly paper on the released book.
Earlier, Chhatrapal, president of Dogri Sanstha, in his welcome address, said that the books being published in Dogri in general and the released book in particular, are indicative of the evolution which the growth of Dogri literature is experiencing.
The programme was conducted by Dr Nirmal Vinod, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha while vote of thanks was delivered by the senior vice president.
A large number of academicians and others associated with literature, art and culture attended the function.
