JAMMU, Feb 24: Baramulla Cricket Club (BCC) drubbed Krishna Sports Club (KSC) Khour by 6 wickets to advance in the ongoing 50-Overs Chief Minister’s Cricket Cup, being organized by Country Cricket Academy in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council at the Academy’s ground, Gharota, here.
The Tournament is being played in the memory of former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, under the supervision of Director Country Cricket Academy, Vikrant Sharma.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Krishna Sports Club Khour scored a modest total of 126 runs in 2 9 overs. Anku Manhas top scored with 32 runs, while Lakhvinder contributed 20 runs to the total. Kavi chipped in with 18 runs. For Baramulla Cricket Club, Umar Kakroo was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 3 important wickets, while Amir Sheikh and Zahid took 2 wickets each. Aaqib Irshad, Jahangir Lone and Momin claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Baramulla Cricket Club chased the target in 23 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Zubair top scored with 37 runs, while Amir Sheikh contributed 30 runs to the total. Jahangir Lone and Sajid chipped in with 18 and 11 runs respectively. For Krishna Sports Club Akhnoor, Anku Manhas took 3 wickets, while Billa Manhas claimed one. Amir Sheikh was adjudged as the man of the match for his brilliant all-round display.
The match was officiated by Ashok Singh and Rajinder Sharma as umpires, while Lakshaya was the scorer.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Zabarvan Cricket Club Nishat will take on Azhar XI at 9 am.
