Batwals demand public holiday on birthday of Guru Gyagi

JAMMU, Feb 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association held its general body meeting at Shahzapur Kothi here under the chairmanship of ex-MLA Sat Pal Lakhotra.
The meeting discussed the problems being faced by the Batwal people in various fields and prepared a memorandum of genuine demands of the community for submitting the same to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah through Planning and Development Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra for consideration on priority.
The meeting, once again, appealed the State Government to honour Guru Gyagi Ji by declaring his birthday (which is falling on February 14) as public holiday in district Jammu, through a notification.
The meeting constituted a reception committee for the 117th Guru Gyagi birth commemorative function with Ashok Kumar Motan (convener), Capt Ram Lal Sargotra, Capt Puran Chand Kaith, Capt Darbari Lal Sargotra, Sub Baldev Chand Sandhu, Naib Sarpanch Som Nath Tugga, Naib-Sarpanch Shamsher Singh Sargotra, Ramesh Kumar Kaith, Gurdas Chand Sargotra, Punnu Ram Kaith, Jagbandhan Motan, Bua Ditta Kaith and Jagar Ram Sargotra.
